Maple Pass Loop and Blue Lake Fall Day Hikes

Maple Pass Loop

Location: North Cascades

Miles: 7.2

Elevation Gain: 2,000 feet

Highlights: Larches, mountains dusted with snow , endless peaks

We did this hike early October after a good amount of snow had come in. There was snow and ice in the parking lot. We all used microspikes the entire time. The larches were still in tact and the scenery was beautiful with the fresh snow. This hike is dog friendly as well.

We decided to camp at Lone Fir campground that was very close to both of these hikes a little further down highway 20. The campground was nice and quiet, one of the perks of camping in fall. It did get cold in the 20's, but we had a fire all night. The next morning we woke up and left to do Blue Lake. First we stopped at Washington Pass and gazed at the beautiful Libery Bell mountain.

Blue Lake

Miles: 4.4

Elevation Gain: 1,050 feet

This hike we did rather quickly. It's a lovely short hike with larches and a gorgeous alpine lake. Dogs are also allowed on this hike.
