Important Notes
Parking: There is limited parking at the parking lot and it can get full on busy days. We arrived by 10:30 and the parking lot was full by 11:00. It is worth it to head out extra early to secure a parking spot!
Chains: It is required to bring chains on the road up to Artist Point
Avalanche Danger: There is avalanche terrain along the route to Artist Point. Check NWAC for conditions before heading out.
This was my fourth time to this area in the winter. We wanted to snow camp this night, but my group opted for a day hike and staying for sunset instead. This is one of my favorite places in the winter with fresh snow and white-capped peaks as far as the eye can see.
Have you heard of the Musical Mountaineers? Rose and Anastasia play their piano and violin in the backcountry and it is pure magic. Imagine the most pristine wilderness and the joy of live music with it. Go to their Facebook page here to listen to some of the music from this day.
This day was such a blissful combination of art, friends, beautiful mountains and snowy landscapes. I hope the Musical Mountaineers + Drawn to High Places and myself have many more artful adventures ahead together for 2019. Art expression in the mountains is so special to me and the music and paintings bring another level of meaning to the moment.
